Mormon apologists are obsessed with the Mormon garment. They insist the followers of God always wore the garment of Joseph Smith. One such apologist is Jonah Barnes who presents “his evidence” without evidence at all. You heard that right, no evidence at all. Hear him this for yourself.
Testing Mormonism Per Brigham Young
@sparky93009 responded on my Youtube channel. I include his complete comment and my response (in bold) for your review.
To those who go to the Temple, Garments represent the cloak of skins that Jehovah made for Adam and Eve to cover their nakedness.
You have made a claim. Anyone cam claim anything they desire but a claim doesn’t make a truth. Brigham Young insisted that we take up the bible and use it to test Mormon claims. I accept his challenge.
Ask Your Bishop

- In keeping with the challenge of Brigham Young, can you point out the biblical passage that links the coats of skins with your Mormon garment?
- In lieu of a Bible passage, can you link the coats of skins to the mormon garment?
- Is it possible that your truth is only based on an unsubstantiated claim by your Mormon leaders?
Many religions wear symbolic clothing and hats to represent different aspects of their worship. One should not make light of or mock the things these different faiths hold sacred.
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
Ephesians 5:11, KJV
The Garments remind us of our covenants we have made in the Temple which covenants Adam and Eve, our Earthly Patriarchs, have passed down through all generations of time.
I left Mormonism at the age of 60. I was a high functioning Mormon and worked as a temple veil worker. I have firsthand with the temple covenants. These include the Law of Obedience, the Law of Sacrifice, the Law of the Gospel, the Law of Chastity, and the Law of Consecration.
Please see my series on the Mormon Temple.
Ask Your Bishop

- Where does the Bible state Adam and Eve made the five temple covenants named above?
- Please show Mormon scripture to prove Adam and Eve made these covenants?
God ordained Adam and Eve as the Patriarch and Matriarch to all mankind. Adam was the first to receive the Priesthood of God and the keys of the Priesthood.
Ask Your Bishop

- Can you point out a biblical passage proving the Aaronic priesthood was active before Aaron?
- Can Mormon scripture that God ordained Adam to the office of the Aaronic of Melchizedek priesthoods?
- Would you be interested in knowing that the priesthood cannot save? Are you aware that the priesthood was replaced by a better covenant (Hebrews 7:11-26)?
- Do you know that there is a biblical job description for the office of High Priest?
- Are you aware that no Mormon High priest has, does, or will satisfy the job description?
The name Eve means the Mother of all living. It was through Adam and Eve that received the Fullness of the Gospel. God taught Adam and Eve all knowledge and ordinances that are required for our salvation.
Doctrine and Covenants 132:26 insists that I do not need temple covenants. This passage claims that I, an excommunicated Mormon apostate, can commit any sin or transgression and all manner of blasphemies and still enter into my exaltation. If Mormonism is true, I have a Get Out Of Hell Free Card.
Ask Your Bishop

- Why do you insist covenants are necessary when Doctrine and Covenants 132:26 says otherwise?
Over time many of these ordinances have been lost through wickedness and apostasy.
This is an amazing claim of the Mormon church. The Book of Mormon, 1 Nephi 13, makes claims about apostasy and biblical corruption. Recent discoveries exposed this false Mormon scripture. Mormon leaders denied the Book of Mormon and published an updated version of the truth. Please review their published statement here!
God restored all of these things through Joseph Smith, His Prophet, of whom Moses testified (see Acts chapter 3).
This also is a fascinating claim. Moses wrote the book of Genesis. The last passage of that book is Genesis 50:26. That final passage documents the death and burial of Joseph of Egypt. As you know, Joseph Smith produced his own translation of the Bible, commonly known as the Joseph Smith Translation or the Inspired Version. In it, verse 26 begins with, “A seer shall the Lord my God raise up, who shall be a choice seer unto the fruit of my loins“. Joseph’s Genesis doe not end with verse 26. It continues all the way to verse 38. In these twelve additional verses, Joseph Smith inserted prophesy about his future coming. Smith forced these false prophesies into the mouth of Moses.
Another notable change is in the Book of Romans. In it, Joseph Smith removed the hope of salvation from Abraham, you and me.
These are but two examples. Joseph Smith, played fast and loose with the Bible from cover to cover?
Summation
As we take up the Bible and examine the doctrine of the Mormon church. In doing so, we discover that the Bible and Mormon stand apart form each other. Three possibilities exist. Either the Bible is true and Mormonism false. Or, Mormonism Is true and the Bible is a lie. Or, they are both wrong together. We have established that the Bible has not changed while the Mormon church has.
