A Mormon High Priest

I was introduced to a man, a Mormon, who regularly visits a small Christian church to preach Mormonism. After a short visit, I asked this man if he was a High Priest. Proudly, he declared that he was a Mormon High Priest. In this post, I will establish that this Mormon High Priest does not qualify.

Under the Law, this Mormon High Priest Does Not Qualify

In response, I asked if he was aware of the job description that applies to every mortal High Priest? He was unable to provide an answer.

For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:

Hebrews 5:1, KJV

After sharing this passage of scripture, I had a few questions.

Ask a Mormon

• As a Mormon High Priest, have you ever acted as a type of Christ pertaining to God, offering gifts and sacrifices for the sins of men like biblical High Priests?
• Are you aware of any Mormon High Priest who has satisfied this High Priest’s job description?
• What about Joseph, Brigham or Russell M. Nelson? Have they met the Biblical demands of a High Priest?

There was no answer. Of all the men he knows, every Mormon High Priest does not qualify.

Under the New and Better Covenant, this Mormon High Priest Does Not Qualify

I explained that after the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus, the law was fulfilled. That law and the old covenant was modified by a new and better covenant. I explained that the job description for a High priest was augmented with the coming of the new and better covenant. Again, he was unaware.

²³And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: ²⁴But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. ²⁵Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Hebrews 7:23-25, KJV

Once again, I had a few questions.

Ask a Mormon

• As a Mormon High Priest, do you have power to save anyone to the uttermost?
• Are you aware of any Mormon High Priest who has the Christ-like power to save people to the uttermost?
• What about Joseph, Brigham or Russell M. Nelson? Are they able?

Again, there was no answer. Of all the men he knows, every Mormon High Priest does not qualify.

Jesus, Our Last and Lasting High Priest

These are the powers and purpose of Jesus, our last and lasting High Priest. All others are frauds.
